The HydroBioX era : performance, evidence and official recognition

After years of research, prototyping, and optimization, HydroBioX is officially entering a new era. The system has undergone extensive testing conducted by external organizations—including CTEAU, food-processing facilities, independent laboratories, and the CSTB—confirming consistent and measurable performance.

These engineering, field, and regulatory validation tests have allowed us to refine the ideal product: a passive treatment solution compliant with the European CE EN 12566-6 standard and fully aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 6, which promotes universal access to clean water, sustainable sanitation, and the responsible reuse of treated water.

Today, we have solid proof: reports, analyses, and certifications all demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of HydroBioX. Together, System O)) and HydroBioX now form a complementary and high-performance duo capable of meeting the challenges of sustainable wastewater treatment.

HYDROBIOX: TESTED, CERTIFIED, HIGH-PERFORMING

HydroBioX stands out as a modern, durable passive technology that meets international standards. Its design, structure, and biological process have been carefully engineered to enable highly efficient, fully natural wastewater treatment.

The 2023–2024 R&D trials—conducted notably on wastewater from a seafood processing plant—confirmed its ability to effectively treat effluents with high organic, saline, or variable loads while maintaining consistent results: BOD5 < 15 mg/L, COD < 50 mg/L, and TSS < 15 mg/L, even under extreme conditions. These tests also demonstrated complete conversion of Kjeldahl nitrogen and stable operation at 2,000 L/day without any loss of performance, validating the system’s robustness in real-world applications.

The European EN 12566-6 certification bench test conducted by the CSTB further confirmed these performances, with average removal rates of 92.6% (TSS), 91.3% (BOD5), and 79.8% (COD)—all achieved without mechanical intervention, without breakage, and while maintaining full compliance even under hydraulic overload (+150%) or underload.

Backed by this official data and its alignment with the CE Marking process, HydroBioX now stands as a passive, reliable, internationally ready treatment technology, delivering purification performance that surpasses established standards.

TECHNICAL FEATURES AND BIOLOGICAL PROCESS

The standard HBX treatment unit measures 0.7 m × 3.9 m and includes two paired basins forming two perforated cavities with a diameter of 265 mm. This configuration optimizes transportation, handling, and on-site assembly. Each unit is designed to treat an average flow of 500 L/day (according to regulatory requirements) and is manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), capable of withstanding up to 6.5 kN of load before deformation. These mechanical tests confirm both the strength of the material and the structural stability of the system.

To ensure optimal performance, each HBX must be installed in compliant washed filter sand (D10 = 0.2–1 mm; Cu ≤ 4.5), with a minimum ventilation height difference of 3 meters between the inlet and outlet. A distribution box ensures uniform flow, a piezometer per cavity allows monitoring of water levels, and a sampling point is required for effluent quality verification.

HydroBioX operates using a 100% biological and passive process. Wastewater is evenly distributed within the perforated cavities, where it comes into contact with an aerobic biomass attached to an internal support. Thanks to continuous natural ventilation, these bacteria break down organic matter efficiently. The effluent then passes through washed filter sand, providing final filtration and polishing. The result: a simple, robust, and effective treatment process—with no electricity, no mechanical parts, and no operational complexity.

IMPRESSIVE RESULTS

System O)) has long delivered treatment performance that far exceeds established norms and regulatory standards, as shown in the comparison table below. However, testing conducted with HydroBioX has demonstrated even stronger performance—despite significantly higher influent loads. These results are especially remarkable considering that HydroBioX, just like the Advanced Enviro))Septic technology at the core of System O))
solutions, operates with no electricity, no mechanical parts, and no maintenance, while remaining odorless, silent, chemical-free, sludge-free, and equipped with a permanent filtering media.

In addition, HydroBioX can convey a higher volume of water per linear meter—56.25 L/ml compared to 42 L/ml for System O))—meaning it can treat the same flowrate on a smaller footprint, all while maintaining exceptional treatment quality. HydroBioX thus proves that superior performance can be achieved without compromising the simplicity, durability, and efficiency that define DBO International’s passive solutions.

CONCLUSION

With HydroBioX, DBO International is taking a major step forward in sustainable wastewater treatment. Field testing, official validations, and performance results clearly demonstrate that it is now possible to achieve exceptional purification levels while maintaining the simplicity, robustness, and reliability that have defined the reputation of System O)). HydroBioX is more than a new technology: it is the natural evolution of our approach — a modern, cost-effective, certified solution, optimized for international transport and perfectly aligned with today’s global needs.

Beyond technical testing, DBO International is already deploying showcase projects around the world, including in Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and several other strategic regions, confirming the growing interest in this next-generation passive technology.

By combining proven performance, a 100% passive process, long-term durability, and global compliance, HydroBioX is paving the way for a new generation of ecological treatment systems capable of addressing today’s global challenges — standing at the crossroads of a more sustainable future.
